I’m an award-winning audio producer, writer, and showrunner born and based in Brooklyn, NY.

Currently, I’m making a podcast about the weird things we wrote as kids with comedian Clare Austen-Smith.

Previously, I worked at Pineapple Street Studios where I produced podcasts about family secrets, maligned women, and The Harlem Renaissance, among others. I’ve collaborated with partners such as Apple, HBO Max and Netflix as well as talent like Lena Dunham, Alison Roman, Brittney Luse, Laura Flanders and Brian Lehrer. Take a listen here.

I’m also an educator. I’ve shared my experience and expertise in audio storytelling at The University of Michigan, New York University, The Center for Communication and Community Roots Charter School and The Bell.

I’m a poet too. You can read my work in Gunk, The Michigan Daily and forthcoming in Angel Food mag. I co-host and produce a quarterly reading series called Reading 101. In 2016, I won a Hopwood Award for Poetry.

I’m available for freelance work. My expertise includes soup-to-nuts podcast production as well as story editing, host-coaching, field recording, reporting, fact-checking, publicity strategy and development consulting.

My email is  maria dot robinssomerville at gmail dot com and I’d love to hear from you.
